How often should HVAC equipment be serviced?
Once a year per system — heating in the fall, cooling in the spring. If you have a heat pump, it runs year-round doing both jobs, so twice a year is the right cadence for it.
Is a tune-up actually worth the money?
The honest answer: it doesn't guarantee nothing breaks. What it does is catch the common failures early, keep the system running at the efficiency you're paying for, and satisfy the annual-service requirement in most manufacturer warranties. Skipping it is how a $200 part turns into a $600 emergency repair — or a denied warranty claim.
When is the best time to schedule?
Early fall for heating and mid-spring for cooling — ahead of the first real cold snap or heat wave. Those are also the least busy stretches of our calendar, so scheduling is easier than it is once the rush starts.
What actually happens during a tune-up?
We inspect and clean the components that degrade with use, verify the system is operating safely and within spec, and test the things that fail most often. For heating that means combustion, heat exchanger condition, and CO testing; for cooling it means refrigerant charge, coil condition, and airflow. You get a straight report on what we found.
