Heating & Air Conditioning in Taunton, MA

Serving Taunton from our shop in Middleboro — and yes, TMLP customers have their own rebate program worth knowing about.

Serving Taunton

A short drive from our shop

Taunton is one of the larger communities we cover, and one of the more varied. The housing runs from tightly packed older neighborhoods near the center — a lot of them still heating with oil or steam — out to newer subdivisions on the edges of town where ducted systems and heat pumps are the norm.

We handle the full range here: gas and oil boilers, forced-air furnaces, ductless and ducted heat pumps, air conditioning, and commercial work. Same owner since 1996, and the shop is in Middleboro, so we're not dispatching from an hour away.

Important for Taunton Homeowners

Taunton isn't a Mass Save town

Your electricity comes from Taunton Municipal Lighting Plant (TMLP), a municipally owned utility serving roughly 39,000 customers across Taunton, Berkley, Raynham, and parts of Dighton, Lakeville, and Bridgewater.

Because TMLP is municipal rather than investor-owned, Taunton residentsare not part of the Mass Save program for electric measures. If a contractor quotes you a heat pump with Mass Save rebates applied, that quote doesn't work here — those incentives are funded by Eversource, National Grid, and Unitil customers.

What you have instead is arguably better. TMLP runs its own program,TMLP Saves™, with rebates for cold-climate air source and ground source heat pumps, incentives toward weatherization and air sealing, higher rebate tiers for income-qualified households, and a zero-interest loan for energy improvements. Free home energy assessments are available through Energy New England before you commit to anything.

We're a participating contractor for the program. That's not a formality — the rebate requires the work to be done by a listed installer. Hire someone who isn't on the list and the money isn't available to you, however good the quote looked.

Rebate amounts and loan terms are set annually. Confirm current numbers onTMLP's program page, or call us and we'll tell you where things stand.

Choosing a System Here

What makes sense in Taunton

With TMLP rebates and a zero-interest loan available on the electric side, the math on heat pumps in Taunton looks different than it does one town over. That's worth actually running before you default to replacing like for like.

Replacing an oil system

This is where the TMLP incentives bite hardest. Moving off oil to a cold-climate heat pump eliminates fuel deliveries and adds central air conditioning in the same step — and the rebate plus zero-interest financing takes a real bite out of the upfront cost.

You have natural gas

A high-efficiency gas furnace or boiler is often still the straightforward move, especially with sound ductwork or baseboard. Price it against a heat pump anyway — with TMLP's incentives the gap is narrower than most people assume.

Older home, no ductwork

Plenty of Taunton's older housing has no duct runs and no practical way to add them. Ductless heat pumps solve that room by room without tearing into finished ceilings and walls.
