This trips up a lot of homeowners, and plenty of contractors get it wrong too. Middleboro is served by Middleborough Gas & Electric Department (MGED), a municipally owned utility that has provided the town's electricity and natural gas for over a century.

Because MGED is municipal rather than investor-owned, Middleboro residentsdo not qualify for Mass Save rebates or the 0% HEAT Loan — those programs are funded through Eversource, National Grid, and Unitil customers.
